At National ES Testing Service, Inc., we do more than offer testing. We help educate our clients by offering valuable resources to keep up to date with ANSI/SPRI ES-1 wind design standards. Understanding the terminology, requirements, and specifications ensures you will be better prepared for tests of fabricated products.
The original ANSI/SPRI ES-1 Standard in 2003 laid out clear requirements for those who design, specify, or install edge materials used in low-slope roofs of commercial buildings. In this document, you will learn about the design standard for the copings and horizontal roof edges. You can view the document here.
In 2017, ANSI/SPRI/FM4435 ES-1 testing standards were published to lay out the basic requirements for resistance testing of the roof edge systems facing various levels of wind load conditions. This information is for designers, manufacturers, and roofing material testing facilities like ours. Learn more about testing standards here.
Gutters fabricated and installed on low-slope commercial roofing systems also have testing standards they must pass to be within building codes. The standard applies to all gutter material types and does not test their ability or capability to transport water. The measure only tests for wind resistance. View the most up-to-date gutter test standards here.
